Congratulations!

We are pleased to inform you that your articles submitted as entry to the 7th PopDev Media Awards titled, “Democracy and Human Development ; Sen and Moral Choice: Merging Development and Existentialism; Human Rights and Moral Education” was chosen as runner up for the Best Text Blog.

Now on its 7th run, the PDMA continues to bestow recognition to outstanding media practitioners and citizen media who dedicated time and effort to highlight population and development issues. This year, we received and searched a total of 404 entries all of which were blinded for anonymity and initially evaluated by the Screening Committee composed of the following organizations from the development and journalism communities, as well as government agencies and private groups:

§ PLCPD
§ United Nations Population Fund
§ Commission on Population
§ Philippine Center for Photojournalism
§ Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication
§ Philippine Center for Population and Development
§ Women’s Feature Service
§ Phil. NGO Council on Population, Health and Welfare

The top five entries were then submitted to the Board of Judges for the Citizen Media Category. The final line-up of winners was determined last November 11, 2011.

The Board of Judges for the Citizen Media Category is composed of the following:

§ Dr. Grace Cruz (Professor, U.P. Population Institute College of Social Sciences and Philosophy)
§ Mr. Carlos Conde(Professional Journalist)
§ Mr. Rene E. Bartolo (PopDev Media Hall of Fame Awardee)
§ Hon. Teddy Brawner Baguilat (Representative and PLCPD Member)
§ Hon. Antonio L. Tinio (Representative and PLCPD Member)

As runner up, you stand to receive a plaque of recognition. To receive the award, you, or your representative, are invited to the 7th PDMA Awarding Ceremony to be held on November 29, 2011, 6:30 pm at the Grand Ballroom, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel, 17 Orchard Road, Eastwood City, Bagumbayan, Quezon City. Expected to attend the event are members of Congress, government officials, non-government organizations, media organizations, business groups, and members of the international development community.
